Can you recall a time when you did something for the first time and you were so happy about it that you decided that you’re going to make that part of your life from then on? That’s how I felt walking out of Makati Medical Center 2 months ago.
Now, here’s something that you may not see documented quite often. But I believe that this is one of the major milestones in a couple’s life – the delivery of their baby.
There were so many things that worried me the week we were waiting for Isabel to go into labor. Am I going to make it? Will the room have a window with natural light coming in? Will there be enough space for me to move around in? What if I get kicked out?!
Thankfully, I made it. And, there wasn’t just a window – the windows were huge, as well as the whole birthing suite! And, most importantly, I did not get kicked out! Haha
I realised that this is probably the only kind of family lifestyle shoot that is purely documentary on my part. And, all the shots and the emotions are honest and raw. Pain is real pain and, happiness is pure bliss.
Seeing Isabel and Fian’s big smiles when Tobyn finaly came out, I couldn’t help but smile myself underneath the medical mask as I shoot. The surge of emotions around the room was really infecting.
I am really thankful for this opportunity. I not only learned what happens in a delivery but I realized that this is really what I love shooting. From the waiting, to the rushing, to the relief, I loved every minute of this experience. Thank you.
